Scenic Spot Introction
The beach of Nansha (literally South bank) is even, broad and extensive with pure, fine and smooth sand; with the cooling sea water, not only is it an excellent natural beach for swimming, but also an ideal place for sea and beach leisure sports. The First Zhoushan International Sand Sculpture Festival was held here in the Autumn of 1999; nearby is the Zhujiajian International Sand Sculpture Park occupying an area of 421 Mu (about 280,000 sq.meters), it perpetually demonstrates the wonderful charm of the short-life art of sand sculpture. The annual sand sculpture festival has become a paragon of success for China’s coastal tourism festivals. Over the years, Nansha had also organized various important events and activities such as the National Sailboat Championship, the National Beach Volleyball Circuit Tour, Sino-Korean Bamboo raft Drifting Competition and the Asia Skydiving Championship.
