How Does Society Define Success?
In contemporary society, the concept of success is often equated with fame and substantial wealth. For a significant period, the image of a successful individual in the media was typically associated with CEOs or those who achieved great accomplishments. However, I believe that the definition of success transcends traditional perceptions.
While attending school, we are constantly encouraged by teachers to study diligently, with the expectation that we will secure high salaries and become successful in the eyes of society. Yet, as I grew older, I realized that our understanding of success is limited. I have encountered individuals who, despite their wealth, felt lost and unsure of their purpose. Others, who received high salaries, were trapped in the cycle of overwork. From a conventional standpoint, these individuals may be considered successful, but I argue that the ordinary person who leads a good life should also be included in the definition of success.
The true measure of success lies in one's positive attitude towards life and the happiness they possess. These elements are invaluable and cannot be purchased. A person who lives a content and joyful life can be deemed successful.
